Alyson is a scientist and journalist with Climate Central, a nonprofit journalism organization built as a collaboration between research scientists and communicators. She reports on recent developments in climate science and alternative energy and is studying how best to communicate climate change information through both traditional and multimedia formats.
In 2009, Alyson obtained her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Calgary, from which her research on air-sensitive metal catalysts inspired a deep appreciation for the scientific method -- and the assembly of scientists committed to it. Since then, she has been enrolled in New York University’s SHERP journalism program and has held internships at both the American Museum of Natural History and Climate Central.
See the portfolio section for examples of her work.
